Three towers, 788 apartments and commercial floors: Southport Central brings the scale of a residential community together with the demands of a working business precinct. Capti delivered a full-fibre upgrade across the development in approximately three months.
The project extended fibre directly into premises, established a 10Gbps-capable network platform and brought public Wi-Fi into common areas. Together, those works created a new communications foundation for one of the Gold Coast’s substantial mixed-use developments.
Moving beyond the building’s copper network
The existing fibre-to-the-basement network used copper cabling for the final connection to apartments and businesses. Residents and businesses were experiencing speeds of around 50–100Mbps and service dropouts.
Rather than relying on that same final link, the upgrade extended fibre directly to the premises. This addressed a physical constraint in the building’s access network.
Full fibre across three towers
Capti deployed a 10Gbps-capable passive optical network, or PON, across the three-tower development, which includes 788 apartments and commercial floors. The project was delivered over approximately three months.
The scope also included public Wi-Fi in common areas, alongside the connections to individual premises. Apartment broadband and shared-area Wi-Fi serve different needs, so each formed part of the overall design.
The installation experience matters too
A building-wide upgrade is also a series of individual visits to homes and workplaces. Clear communication and careful installation are part of making that change work for the people who use the property.
Residents shared these experiences in the original project story:
“Great product at a great price! Installation with fibre optic cable was performed efficiently by an experienced technician. Nothing was too hard for the installer, and all our expectations have been exceeded!”
“My experience with CAPTI has been fantastic. Their top-notch customer service and cutting-edge technology have notably boosted the internet speed in our building. I'm thoroughly impressed and highly recommend CAPTI!”
A foundation for later building services
Fibre infrastructure can support more than residents’ broadband. At Southport Central, it created a basis for considering services such as digital intercoms, improved mobile coverage and Wi-Fi in additional shared areas.
Those services require their own design, equipment and support arrangements. The value of a shared fibre foundation is that future requirements can be considered as part of a coordinated property plan.
Choose the service that fits your premises
The 10Gbps figure describes network capability. Available services and actual speeds depend on the premises, selected plan, equipment and connection method.
