Circle on Cavill is a landmark on the Surfers Paradise skyline. Inside its North Tower, Capti delivered a substantial infrastructure upgrade: a new fibre backbone, fibre connections into apartments and a second backhaul route into the building.
Completed in approximately two months, the first phase replaced the constraints of the final copper connection with a 10Gbps-capable fibre platform. It also laid the groundwork for building communications to develop alongside residents’ broadband.
When the last stretch of copper holds a building back
The existing fibre-to-the-basement service relied on telephone cabling for the connection to individual apartments. Some residents were receiving speeds as low as 30Mbps, limiting what they could do comfortably when several devices were online.
The brief was to improve that connection while considering the wider building: its cable pathways, shared infrastructure and longer-term communications needs.
A fibre backbone with room to grow
Capti installed a 144-core fibre backbone extending approximately 220 metres through the North Tower. A 10Gbps-capable passive optical network, or PON, provided the platform for fibre connections into apartments, with Wi-Fi 6 included in the apartment deployment.
The backbone also created capacity for potential building services, including CCTV, television distribution and improved mobile coverage. Each additional service can be planned and delivered as a separate upgrade.
A second path into the building
A fast apartment connection still depends on the links carrying traffic into and out of the property. At Circle on Cavill, Capti paired its street-level fibre connection with a rooftop fixed-wireless link through ConnectGuard DR.
The two paths connected through different data centres. This gave the building an alternative route if the primary fibre link became unavailable, reducing its reliance on a single physical connection.
A transformation inside the North Tower
The significance of the project lies in its scope. Capti addressed the connection to the apartment, the capacity through the tower and the resilience of the links beyond it. Residents gained a full-fibre access option, while the body corporate gained a backbone designed to accommodate further communications upgrades.
The scope described here is the North Tower phase completed in 2024. The South Tower was planned as a subsequent stage; check availability for your individual apartment.

The 10Gbps figure describes network capability. Available services and actual speeds depend on the apartment, selected plan, equipment and connection method.
