Wideband Basic - Category 1 Orders

These orders involve minor internal work and do not require any external construction before installation.

Examples include:

  • Running less than 30 metres of cable on the same floor of a building, requiring no mechanical aids or third-party negotiations.
  • Installing a Network Termination Unit (NTU) or sliding cards into free slots in a Unimux.

Provisioning for these orders can often be completed during the same site visit.

Wideband Minimal - Category 2 Orders

Category 2 orders involve external transmission plant installation, substantial internal plant work, or fee-for-service tasks.

Examples include:

  • Orders that require switching equipment, a new multiplexer, or a sub rack.
  • Installing an Add Drop Multiplexer (ADM) card, with associated sub rack to DDF cabling completed at the same time.
  • External transmission plant installation, including up to 500 metres of cable.

These orders typically require more extensive planning and resources.

Wideband Medium - Category 3 Orders

These orders apply to wideband metro services that need third-party consent before starting street work. The consent may be required for activities at either the customer’s end or the exchange end of the service.

Wideband Extensive - Category 4 Orders

Category 4 orders involve major construction activities and extensive infrastructure upgrades.

Examples include:

  • Performing inter-exchange network work.
  • Installing or upgrading Add Drop Multiplexers (ADM).
  • Fibre hauls exceeding 800 metres.
  • Fibre originating directly from the exchange, regardless of length.
  • Installing more than 70 metres of conduit.

These orders require detailed planning, significant labour, and potentially long lead times.

Cancellation or Miscellaneous Work - Category 5 Orders

Category 5 orders are for cancellations or other miscellaneous service requests.

These include:

  • Requests to cancel an existing order.
  • Miscellaneous work that does not fall into other categories.
