At Capti, we understand that seamless, high-speed connectivity is crucial for your business. To ensure the smooth installation of your new Enterprise Fixed Wireless service, we've prepared this guide to help you prepare your premises and IT systems for the transition.

1. Understanding Your Service

Enterprise Fixed Wireless provides high-speed internet through a direct wireless link between your business and a nearby transmission tower. Key details include:

  • Fixed Wireless Link: A high-gain antenna is installed on your building, receiving signals from the transmission tower.
  • Line of Sight: For optimal performance, a clear, unobstructed line of sight between the antenna and the tower is required. This will be confirmed during installation.

2. Preparing Your Site for Installation

To ensure a smooth installation process, please take the following steps:

  • Technician Access: Ensure installation contractors have full access to your premises, including the roof and communications room. Make sure technicians can access all necessary areas, such as the Network Termination Unit (NTU) locations.
  • Power Supply: Two dedicated General Power Outlets (GPOs) are needed—one for the NTU and another for the PoE injector.
  • Rack Space: The supplied NTU occupies 1RU of rack space and requires an additional 1RU of space both above and below for adequate cooling. Please ensure this space is available for installation.
  • Health & Safety: Provide a safe working environment for our technicians. Inform us in advance of any induction requirements or safety protocols your business may have in place.
  • Ensure Necessary Approvals: Before installation, ensure you have all necessary approvals, including written permission from the building owner or body corporate for roof access and equipment installation. 

3. Outdoor Antenna Installation

During installation, the technician will mount a directional fixed antenna on your building. Details include:

  • Mast Installation: Our standard installation includes a 50mm OD galvanized steel mast, secured with stay bars and roof screws, extending 1.6 to 3 meters above the roof. The final height and location will be determined on installation day to ensure optimal line of sight and signal strength.
  • Antenna Mounting: The Antenna is securely mounted to the mast using manufacturer-supplied U-bolts. Our standard supplied antenna measures less than 650 x 650 x 400 mm and weighs less than 8 kg.
  • Weatherproofing: All roof penetrations will be sealed with waterproof materials to ensure durability.

4. Cable Installation

The installation includes outdoor-rated Ethernet cabling routed from the antenna to your communications room:

  • Ethernet Cabling: The cabling will be routed to avoid interference and ensure optimal signal quality.
  • Weatherproof Entry Point: The cable entry point will be sealed to prevent water ingress and protect the structure.

5. Rack Equipment Installation

Equipment installed in your communications room includes:

  • Network Termination Unit (NTU): Occupies 1RU, measuring 44mm (H) x 445mm (W) x 318mm (D), with a power draw of 80W.
  • PoE Injector: Provides power and data to the antenna. Its dimensions are 88mm (L) x 60mm (W) x 33mm (H), with a power draw of 30W.

6. Service Qualification and Feasibility

Capti handles all necessary service qualification and feasibility checks to ensure the infrastructure can support your fixed wireless service:

  • Service Qualification: A desktop analysis confirms availability and service feasibility.
  • Feasibility Study: In complex cases, a site visit may be required to assess infrastructure needs.
  • Note: This process does not guarantee connection availability until installation. 

7. Installation Timelines

Installation times vary depending on your location and the complexity of the setup:

  • Standard Installations: Typically take 10 - 20 working days for in coverage locations, depending on site infrastructure.
  • Provisional Date Range (PDR): Capti will provide an estimated time frame for service activation. Any delays will be communicated promptly.

8. Customer Responsibilities

Your cooperation ensures a smooth and timely installation:

  • Power Backup: We recommend installing an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to maintain the NTU and PoE injector’s operation during outages.
  • Internal Cabling: You are responsible for any additional internal cabling required to connect the NTU to your network.
  • Router: If you have arranged a managed router from Capti, your project manager will contact you to arrange its connection.  If you are using your own router, you will need to install and configure it. 

9. Post-Installation Testing

Once installed, testing will be conducted to ensure the service meets performance requirements. You will receive confirmation once your service is live.

10. Service Escalation and Support

If any issues arise during installation or post-installation, our support team is here to assist. We have an escalation process to address delays or challenges as needed.

11. Plan for Redundancy and High Availability

For businesses that cannot afford downtime, Capti offers redundancy options such as backup circuits or auto-failover solutions to ensure continuity in the event of a primary service failure.

12. Frequency and Interference

Our standard antennas typically operate in the 5GHz, 60GHz, and 80GHz bands, offering high-speed transmission. These low-powered, highly directional frequencies reduce interference risks and are strictly regulated for safe operation. During installation, we assess the optimal location to ensure the best signal quality. Our antennas fully comply with all safety standards for RF emissions and are often installed in sensitive environments such as schools and hospitals.
