At Capti, we're committed to providing high-speed, reliable internet through our Fixed Wireless solutions, tailored to meet your needs—whether it's a best-effort service for your home or a business-grade SLA.

Our Fixed Wireless installation process is efficient and typically completed within just two hours. We’ll discreetly install an antenna on your roof, similar to what you’d find with Foxtel, NBN Fixed Wireless, or a TV antenna. This antenna connects to your home via a cable, seamlessly integrating into your setup and establishing a direct wireless link to a nearby transmission tower.

This ensures a fast, stable, and reliable connection, giving you the internet performance you expect. Here’s what you can expect during the installation process:

1. Preparing Your Home for Installation

To ensure a smooth and efficient installation, here are a few steps to prepare your home:

  • Technician Access: Our technician will need access to your roof, as well as the area inside your home. Please ensure these areas are accessible.
  • Power Supply: Two power outlets (General Power Outlets or GPOs) will be required—one for the NTU and another for the PoE (Power over Ethernet) injector.
  • Router Setup: If you have opted for a router from Capti, we will handle the setup. If you are using your own router, you will be responsible for installing and configuring it.

2. Outdoor Antenna Installation

Depending on your property and the best line of sight to the transmission tower, we will use one of the following antenna mounting options:

  • Tin Roof Mount: For homes with tin or corrugated roofs, we will use lightweight brackets and screws to securely fasten the antenna. The pole is typically 1200mm in height to avoid obstructions.
  • Wall Mount: This option involves mounting the antenna under the eave or on the side of your home using discreet screws. The pole is 1300mm in length and is designed to provide optimal height while maintaining a low profile.
  • Tile Roof Mount: For homes with tiled roofs, a heavy-duty galvanized pole (typically 1300mm in height) will be fastened securely using stay bars and unobtrusive screws, ensuring stability without impacting the appearance of your roof.

The technician will mount a directional fixed antenna to the mast once installed. Our standard supplied antenna measures less than 500 x 500 mm and weigh less than 4 kg.

3. Cable Installation

The outdoor-rated Ethernet cable will be routed from the antenna into your home. The entry point for the cable will be sealed to prevent water ingress, protecting both the cable and your home. We will install the RJ45 socket where feasible, but complex cable runs are not covered in a standard installation.

4. In-Home Equipment

Inside your home, the following equipment will be installed to complete the Fixed Wireless setup:

  • Network Termination Unit (NTU): The NTU measures less than 44mm (H) x 445mm (W) x 318mm (D), with a power draw of less than 80W. This device will connect to your router.
  • PoE Injector: This device provides both power and data to the antenna. It is compact in size (88mm L x 60mm W x 33mm H) and draws 30W of power.

5. Service Qualification and Feasibility

Before installation, Capti conducts all the necessary service qualification checks to ensure that Fixed Wireless is available in your area:

  • Service Qualification: A desktop analysis confirms the availability and potential performance of the service based on your location.
  • Feasibility Study: In some cases, a site visit may be required to assess specific infrastructure needs. This step ensures your home is suitable for Fixed Wireless. Note: Service availability cannot be guaranteed until installation is complete.

6. Installation Timelines

We aim to make the installation process as quick and seamless as possible. For most standard installations, the process is completed within 2 hours, minimizing any inconvenience. Our team will coordinate with you to ensure the installation is scheduled at a time that suits your needs.

Installation lead-times may vary based on your location and the complexity of the setup:

  • Standard Installations: Generally, installations are completed within 10 - 20 working days for locations within coverage areas, depending on the site’s infrastructure.
  • Provisional Date Range (PDR): Capti will provide an estimated service activation timeline, and any delays will be promptly communicated.

8. Post-Installation Testing

After installation, we will perform tests to ensure the Fixed Wireless service meets our performance standards. You will receive confirmation once your service is live and fully operational.

10. Frequency and Interference

Our antennas typically operate in the 5GHz, 60GHz, and 80GHz frequency bands, which are designed for high-speed, low-interference transmission. These frequencies are highly directional and regulated to ensure safe operation in residential areas. Our team will assess the best location for your antenna during installation to ensure optimal signal quality.

Power Backup: Your internet service will require power to operate. If you need service during a power outage, we recommend installing an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to keep the NTU and PoE injector running.

By following this guide, you’ll be fully prepared for the installation of your Fixed Wireless service, ensuring smooth, reliable, and fast internet connectivity at your home.
