Before your Capti Cable HFC connection can be installed, there are a few important steps to ensure your installation goes smoothly. Here's a checklist to get everything ready before your appointment.

Pre-Appointment Checklist:

1. WiFi Router

You must have a WiFi router for your HFC connection. If you already have a router, make sure it meets the following requirements:

  • Unlocked Router: If your router came from another provider, it may be locked to their network. Check with your old provider to ensure it will work with Capti. If you've purchased a Capti router, it's already unlocked and ready to use.
  • WAN Port: Your router must have a WAN port on the back. If you're unsure, consult the manual or contact our support team.

2. Appointment Requirements

Someone over the age of 18 must be present during the installation. Ensure this is considered when scheduling your appointment.

3. VoIP Phone (Optional)

If you plan to use a home phone with Capti's VoIP service, check that your hardware meets these requirements:

  • Unlocked Device: Like your router, your phone hardware must be unlocked to work with Capti’s services. Contact your old provider to confirm this.
  • Phone Port: Your modem should have a phone port, often labeled with a telephone symbol or marked “PHONE.”
  • VoIP Compatibility: Ensure your phone handset is compatible with VoIP. If you’re unsure, reach out to our team for help or refer to the owner’s manual.

If your phone handset or router/modem doesn’t meet these requirements, you can purchase a VoIP Adapter, which allows older phones to work on our services.

Connecting Your Capti Cable Modem

Follow these simple steps to get your Capti modem set up:

  1. Connect the coax cable:
Connect the coaxial cable from the wall outlet to the Capti modem's LINE port.
  2. Plug in the power:
Plug the Capti modem’s AC adapter into a power outlet and connect it to the modem.
  3. Connect your modem:
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Capti modem's GE port to your router’s WAN port.

That’s it! Your Capti modem is now ready to use.
