Capti offers full Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) services in select partner buildings, providing fast, reliable internet straight to your home. To ensure a smooth installation and setup, we've prepared this guide with everything you need to know before your Capti fibre connection is installed.
If your home doesn’t yet have a Network Termination Unit (NTU) (commonly known as a Fibre Modem), a technician will need to install one. Here's everything you need to know ahead of your appointment:
Pre-Appointment Checklist
To ensure your installation is quick and hassle-free, please review this checklist:
WiFi Router
- Own a Router: Make sure you have a WiFi router ready for your fibre connection. If you already own one, check the following:
- Unlocked Router: Ensure your router is unlocked if it was provided by another ISP. Contact your old provider to unlock the device if needed.
- WAN Port: The router should have a WAN port (often labelled as such), which is required to connect to your fibre service.
- Capti WiFi 6 Router: Alternatively, you can use Capti's built-in WiFi 6 system at no extra cost, offering fast and reliable coverage throughout your home.
Installation Day: What Happens
On the day of installation, our technician will connect the fibre from the building’s Floor Distribution Frame (FDF) to the Capti FTTP equipment in your home, utilizing the existing pathways. Here’s what you need to do:
- Be Present: Ensure that someone 18 years or older is home to provide access. If the technician is unable to enter your home, you may incur a missed appointment fee.
- NTU Installation: The NTU will be installed at the lead-in conduit of your home. Standard installations typically don’t allow relocation, but if needed, a complex installation can be arranged for an additional fee.
- Power & Space: Make sure there is an available power outlet and enough space in your communications area for the NTU to be installed without delays.
- Pathway Clearance: If the technician encounters a blocked conduit or other access issues, they’ll discuss the next steps with you.
