Switching internet providers on the Vision Network is different from what you might experience with other networks like the NBN. Vision Network doesn’t yet support remote transfers or churns between providers, so a technician is required to visit your premises to complete the switch.

Here's what happens:

  1. Technician Visit and Access to Your Home: After placing a new order, a technician will attend your building to physically connect the line to your home to a new port on the Vision Network equipment. This step ensures that your new provider’s service is properly connected. The technician will also need access to your home to test and ensure everything is working correctly.
  2. Disconnecting the Old Service: During the process, the technician will physically disconnect your old internet service when they connect the new port. This means your previous service will no longer work after the switch.
  3. Don’t Forget to Cancel Your Old Service: While the old service will be physically disconnected, it’s important to remember that this doesn’t automatically stop the billing from your previous provider. You need to contact your old provider directly and request to cancel the service to avoid being billed for a service you’re no longer using.

Why is this Necessary?

At present, Vision Network lacks the ability to transfer services remotely between providers, unlike the NBN. This means every time you change internet providers on Vision Network, a technician must physically disconnect your old service and connect the new one.

What Could Change?

Vision Network may introduce remote service transfers in the future, which would make the process much easier and quicker. If and when that happens, we will update this article to reflect the new procedure.
