Step 1: Identify the Correct NTU Port
The G.fast NTU provided by Capti Vision Network (typically an Adtran 422G) has the following ports and indicators:
- LAN Port (RJ45): This is where you’ll connect your computer to perform the speed test.
- Status LEDs: These indicate power, connection status, and activity.
Step 2: Disconnect Your Router from the NTU
To isolate the NTU, disconnect your router from the NTU by unplugging the Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the NTU. This ensures that no other devices on your network will interfere with the speed test.
Step 3: Connect Your Computer Directly to the NTU
- Plug an Ethernet cable directly from the NTU’s LAN port into your computer’s Ethernet port.
- Make sure your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically (via DHCP). Most devices are set to this by default, but you can verify this setting in your computer’s network settings if needed:
- On Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet, select your Ethernet connection, and ensure Obtain an IP address automatically is selected.
