When ordering an nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet (EE) service through Capti, the location’s fibre build requirements are assessed by nbn™ to determine the level of work involved in connecting the premises to the fibre network. This process is called a fibre build effort assessment, and it falls into one of three categories: Category A, Category B, or Category C.
Below is a simple breakdown to help you understand each category and what it means for your order:
Category A – Instant Pricing, Simple Build
- What it means: The fibre build required is straightforward and minimal.
- Turnaround: Pricing and build details are provided instantly during the Service Qualification (SQ) check.
- What you get: Fast quote, fast ordering. This is the quickest path to installation.
Category B – Desktop Feasibility, Still Simple
- What it means: The build is still relatively simple, but nbn™ needs to do a bit more checking.
- Turnaround: A desktop feasibility assessment is done by nbn™, returned generally within 5 business days.
- What you get: Slightly slower than Category A, but still a low-effort fibre installation.
Category C – Complex Build, Full Feasibility Required
- What it means: The location requires a more complex fibre build. This could involve civil works, significant infrastructure, or unusual site conditions.
- Turnaround: A complex feasibility assessment is performed by nbn™, with results provided within 4 weeks.
- What you get: Longer lead times, and often a custom quote based on detailed planning.
