Capti’s support for BGP enables your network to scale, optimize traffic routing, and ensure high availability by leveraging advanced routing capabilities across the internet.

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is the backbone of internet routing, responsible for determining the most efficient paths for data to travel between different Autonomous Systems (ASes). It ensures that packets are routed optimally across the internet, providing resilience and scalability for businesses that rely on high-performance network connections.

Capti BGP Support

For eligible services, and subject to approval, Capti supports BGP routing by offering Default Gateway announcements as well as domestic and full internet route tables:
 

  • Default Gateway Announcement: Capti can advertise a single default route (0.0.0.0/0 for IPv4) to your network. This simplifies routing configurations by sending all outbound traffic through Capti's network, where optimal internet path selection is handled.
  • Domestic Route Table: For customers with specific routing needs limited to a particular region (e.g., Australia), Capti can provide a focused domestic route table, limiting internet traffic to local networks.
  • Full Internet Route Table: For more advanced requirements, Capti can provide the full global BGP table. This allows you to control routing decisions, enabling you to implement traffic engineering, multi-homing, and path optimization across multiple ISPs.

Getting Started with BGP on Capti Services

To get started with BGP routing on Capti, you’ll need to ensure your APNIC account has an up-to-date route origin record. This is essential for ensuring that your prefixes are properly announced and routed.

How to Submit a BGP Request

For any BGP routing requests, please submit a signed formal letterhead to support@capti.com.au with the following information:
 

  1. Company Name
  2. Your Capti Account & Service Number
  3. Autonomous System (AS) Number
  4. A List of Networks: Provide the networks you wish to announce to Capti in CIDR format (e.g., x.x.x.x/x).
  5. Routing Preference: Indicate if you require a Default Gateway, domestic, or full internet route table.
