If you’re a Capti Vision Network customer, you may want to know how easily you can change your internet plan. While Capti provides flexibility to switch between plans, there are some key factors depending on the technology you’re using and your contract terms.
Plan Differences: VDSL2 and Gfast
Capti offers two main types of plans:
- 50Mbps to 100Mbps Plans: These run on VDSL2 technology, which suits most general internet needs.
- 250Mbps to 1Gbps Plans: These higher-speed plans use Gfast technology, requiring the installation of a Network Termination Unit (NTU).
Switching Between Plans: Same Technology vs. Different Technology
If you're looking to change plans within the same technology, the process is simple and doesn’t require a technician. For example:
- Moving from 50Mbps to 100Mbps on VDSL2 can be done easily.
- Similarly, upgrading from 250Mbps to 1Gbps on Gfast is straightforward as long as you remain on Gfast.
However, you must stay on the same technology to switch plans without a technician visit. If you want to switch between VDSL2 and Gfast, it requires a new order, and a technician will need to visit to reconfigure your line and install any necessary equipment (such as an NTU for Gfast). This will essentially be the cancellation of your old service and the activation of a new service. For example:
- Moving from 100Mbps VDSL2 to 250Mbps Gfast will require a technician visit to install the required hardware.
- Likewise, switching from 1Gbps Gfast to 50Mbps VDSL2 will need a technician to adjust the connection at the MDF.
Please note that technician visit fees may apply when switching between technologies. Additionally, if you're under contract, you cannot downgrade to a lower speed than your initial plan unless there are line speed issues. In cases where your line cannot support your current plan, Capti will work with you to downgrade to a plan that the line can support. Be sure to check your T&Cs for any cancellation or other fees if you're looking to switch plans while under contract.
