Introduction
Capti is dedicated to establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial peering relationships with other network providers to enhance the quality and reliability of Internet services for our customers. This document outlines our peering policy and guidelines for potential peering partners.
Peering Criteria
Network Reach and Quality:
- Capti considers networks that provide diverse and reliable connectivity to various geographic regions and user populations.
- Peering partners should demonstrate a high level of network stability and performance, including low latency and minimal packet loss.
Traffic Volume and Balance:
- Capti evaluates potential peering partners based on their traffic volume and the potential for achieving a balanced traffic exchange.
- Peering requests from networks with similar traffic levels are more likely to be considered.
Traffic Engineering and Routing:
- Capti prefers peering partners who can implement effective traffic engineering practices to optimize routing and minimize the impact of congestion.
- BGP best practices, including prefix filters, route dampening, and prefix length requirements, should be followed.
Peering Requirements
Technical Requirements:
- Capti supports both IPv4 and IPv6 peering.
- Peering partners must adhere to industry-standard BGP configuration practices and maintain accurate routing data (ROAs, IRR records, etc.).
Peering Locations:
- Capti is open to establishing peering connections at mutually beneficial Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and data centres.
- Remote peering may also be considered, provided it aligns with our technical and operational capabilities.
Prefix Size and Filtering:
- Capti requires peering partners to announce prefixes no smaller than a /24 for IPv4 and a /48 for IPv6 unless mutually agreed upon.
- Prefix filtering must be implemented to prevent accidental or malicious route leaks.
Contact and Coordination
Peering inquiries should be directed to netengineering@capti.com.au.
We encourage potential peering partners to provide relevant information about their network, traffic patterns, and peering requirements in their initial contact.
Acceptance and Trial Period
Capti will evaluate peering requests based on the criteria mentioned above.
Once a peering request is accepted, a trial period will be initiated to assess the quality of the peering relationship.
Monitoring and Maintenance
Capti believes in maintaining open communication channels with peering partners to promptly address any technical or operational issues that may arise.
Regular peering performance reviews may be conducted to ensure the ongoing mutual benefits of the peering relationship.
Termination of Peering
Capti reserves the right to terminate a peering relationship if the peering partner's network quality, traffic balance, or adherence to technical standards deteriorates over time.
Modification of Policy
Capti may modify this peering policy as needed. Any changes will be communicated to existing and potential peering partners.
